H.A.N.D. is a support group for parents whose babies have died any time from conception through late infancy. Our mission is to help parents cope with feelings of grief and isolation which accompany infant death. Although H.A.N.D. is primarily set up to support the community of the greater Houston area, we will attempt to aid anyone who contacts our organization to the fullest extent possible within the resources available to us. Most of what H.A.N.D. has to offer to interested parties outside of the greater Houston area can be found on this web site.

H.A.N.D. attempts to:

Provide understanding and support to grieving parents by:

  1. sharing experiences at monthly meetings
  2. offering a parent-to-parent telephone support line
  3. providing information and resources
  4. circulating a quarterly newsletter
  5. providing this web site

Improve communications with the community about infant death by:

  1. helping others understand the deep sense of pain and loss
  2. relaying the hurt when little significance is placed on the baby's death
  3. providing information to caregivers because of lack of understanding
